From your dock, click on Apple Mail



If this is the first time you’ve set up an email account on your Mac, you will be prompted to enter the information below, when the programme opens. If you have used Mail before, move to step 2.




Enter your name, as you would like it to appear
Enter the email address you have registered with Freeserve, i.e. mail@yourname.freeserve.co.uk
Enter the Incoming Mail Server as pop.freeserve.com
Ensure Mail server type POP is selected
Enter your Freeserve username, i.e. anything after the ‘@’ sign
Enter the Outgoing mail server as smtp.freeserve.com


2) If you have already used Mac Mail

Click the Mail tab, and select Preferences








From Accounts, click on Add Account



Click on the Acccount Information tab






Change the account type field, by clicking on the blue arrows, to POP
In the Description Field, name the account pop.freeserve.com
In the email address, enter the Email address you registered with Freeserve
Enter your name, next to the Full Name field, for example Bob Smith

Your incoming mail server is pop.freeserve.com
Your username is the part of your Freeserve email address, after the ‘@’ sign, eg. yourname.freeserve.co.uk
For password enter your Freeserve password (remember it is case-sensitive)

You will then need to configure an Outgoing Mail Server by dropping down to Add Server...




Enter the Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.freeserve.com and click OK

Note: If you access the Internet using Freeserve (dial up, or Broadband), you must always use the Freeserve smtp server as the Outgoing mail server.

If you have other email accounts configured to Mac Mail, ensure that you Edit each account, changing the Outgoing Mail Server to smtp.freeserve.com whilst you are accessing the Internet with Freeserve.

Now you’ve have finished setting up Mac Mail, you can cross off accounts. Why not connect to the Internet, and send yourself a test message to make sure it’s working OK.
